I wouldn't necessarily call it a quid pro quo arrangement, but just a few short months after his law firm added Andrew Blunt as a partner, Blunt's brother, Missouri Governor Matt Blunt, has appointed former Jefferson City mayor Duane Schreimann to the Coordinating Board for Higher Education.
Surprisingly, Missouri Ethics Commission forms do not show Andrew Blunt has having doled out any gifts to legislators during the first three months of 2005, even though state Democrats have filed a complaint with the Commission, claiming that Blunt should have filed a report covering the little vacation retreat taken by nine Republican legislators, including Marilyn Ruestman, R-Joplin, and House Speaker Rod Jetton, to Hot Springs, Ark., during the General Assembly's spring break in March.
One of Andrew Blunt's law partners, Jay Reichard, has piled up some lobbying expenses, including a couple of occasions where he spent more than $300 for meals and drinks for the entire Senate.
