Perennial candidate Martin Lindstedt kept his mouth shut for a change as h is arraignment was held today in Newton County Circuit Court on a felony charge of statutory sodomy.
According to court records, Lindstedt "does not answer questions regarding whether or not he will hire an attorney.' This uncharacteristic silence must come as a surprise to those who have seen him dragged bodily out of public meetings by law enforcement officers, continuing to talk non-stop.
Lindstedt remains in jail in lieu of $100,000 bond. His next hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 18.
More information about the charges facing Lindstedt is included in the May 10 Turner Report.

KOAM's Morning News reported the story on the Carthage Senior High School graduation last night and how the event was so much better because Renewable Environmental Solutions has stopped the process that has created the horrific smell in the area.
While KOAM quite rightly told the story without adding editorial comment, some editorial comment is needed. The simple fact is RES officials are not heroes in this story. If the state had not finally done something about the problem, they would still be happily creating their smell and collecting their money. The only heroes in this story are the people of Carthage who fought and fought until somebody in government finally listened and got something done.
