Globe to try new classified approach

The Joplin Globe is expected to be one of 89 Community Newspaper Holdings publications that will be involved in the launch of a central website for local classified advertising, according to an article in the May 31 AuctionBytes.com
The article indicated that CNHI has chosen CityXpress' eMarketplaceXpress platform to be the host for a classified marketplace for those newspapers. It will be launched sometime around the middle of this month, the article said.
The site will display "branding that matches the visitor's home newspaper" the article said, meaning that anyone who goes to it from The Globe would be looking at a page that appears to be a part of the Globe's website.
"Creating an online marketplace with eMarketplaceXpress gives us tremendous opportunity to expand our local brands while leveraging geographically related classifieds on a shared platform that crosses all of our community sites," Bill Blevins, CNHI vice president of Internet operations, told Auctionbytes.com
It's scary to think that someone who would say something like that is involved in the communications business.
