News-Leader searching for editors

In our latest effort to keep you informed on openings in our area media, it should be mentioned that the Springfield News-Leader has posted openings for two assistant metro editors, one to supervise reporters covering business and health care and the other to supervise reporters covering "police and fire agencies and the federal and municipal court systems."
According to the ad at www.journalismjobs.com , "The right candidates are passionate journalists who have high standards, have a vision for a sophisticated local news report, can cultivate ideas and coach reporters to produce enterprising coverage. The ideal candidates will lead a team focused on getting beyond official sources to tap into the lives of our readers. You must have a commitment to the coaching model of editing."
Interested candidates are asked to send a cover letter, resume, and sample sections and
"10 ideas for smart, creative and reader-focused stories" to Don Wyatt, executive editor, Springfield News-Leader, 651 Boonville, Springfield, MO 65806; e-mail: dwyatt@news-leader.com.
