Stevenson receives $1,200 in lobbyist cash

State Rep. Bryan Stevenson, R-Webb City, spent more than half of his campaign funds during the past three months, even though he isn't up for election until next year. Stevenson still has $5,081.12 on hand after spending $6,937.74, mostly on a golf tournament that apparently took place the first week of June.
Stevenson's disclosure form shows he spent $3,640.93 for greens fees at Briarbrook Country Club on June 2, as well as $498.28 to Wal-Mart for "golf tournament," $428.30 to Trophy House, Joplin, and $1,114 to Tracy Joyce for mailing supplies.
Other expenditures listed included $843.75 to Randy Vension on April 16 for catering, and $350 to Liberty Publications for advertising.

-The maximum $300 from Penman and Winton, Jefferson City, listed as a consulting group, which is a euphemism for a lobbyist firm. Lobbyists Scott Penman and David Winton represent Southwestern Bell (SBC) and BSC Healthcare Systems.
-$200 from former State Representative Gary Burton, R-Joplin, whose client list includes Isle of Capri casinos, Missouri Riverboat Gaming, City of Joplin, Missouri Cable Telecommunications Association, St. John's Regional Medical Center, Missouri Association of Insurance Agents, and AOL.
-$300 from J. Scott Marrs, lobbyist for Missouri Hospital Association, City of Springfield, Southwest Missouri State University, Bass Pro, Springfield Public Schools, and Springfield City Utilities.
-$300 from Burch and Associates, Jefferson City, the lobbying company started by former State Representative Jerry Burch, D-Walker, who represents Missouri Hospital Association, Southwest Missouri State University, Greene County Commission, Springfield City Utilities, and the Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce.
