It looks as if the possession of child pornography crime will be off the books against former Jasper City Councilman Nicky Crews, who pleaded guilty July 28 in Newton County Circuit Court to a felony marijuana possession charge, apparently in exchange for dismissal of the pornography charge.
Judge Kevin Selby ordered a presentencing investigation which will be due by Sept. 15. Crews was arrested Feb. 3 at a Newton County truck stop.
