Timing off on Nodler announcements

State Sen. Gary Nodler, R-Joplin will hold two press conferences today to announce his CAFO legislation, according to news reports. It is interesting how Nodler was silent until the Moark decision had been made and now that it is over and done, he comes up with legislation which seems more designed to placate his critics and boost his reelection bid.
Nodler could easily have come out and made statements that echo the content of his bill during the time when the Moark issue was still being debated. Perhaps his bill will make a difference, but it doesn't appear designed to do anything to help the people of Neosho.

What an idiotic comment. This issue came up after the filing deadline for bills in the last session. Nodler's first chance to introduce legislation is the Dec, 1 pre-filing date. Your desire to be a critic seems to overwhelm your understanding of the process, your comment is just plain stupid.

Nodler is just trying to cover himself and we all know it.

Once again, the Nodler apologists who leave comments are attempting to evade the issue. A state legislator has more power than to just introduce bills. Senator Nodler had ample time to make public comments urging the process to be slowed down. He had ample time to let his opinion be known, whether it be for the Moark expansion, against it, or even in favor of some sort of compromise. So yes, this is a day late, a dollar short.

Randy you need a lesson in civics. Nodler's opinion on the permit is and should have been irrelavent. We don't want to live in a state where regulatory decisions are based on the opinions of politicians but application of the law. The Senator is a legislator. Now is the time to legislate. He is doing his job not interfering with others doing theirs. Your position on this is very stupid.

I heard there were fireworks today in Neosho. Can't wait to see them on the news.

I read with great interest the comments about Senator Nodler's position on the Moark issue. I emailed him on 10-12-05 asking for his position on the issuing of a DNR permit. He responded to me by a letter the next day stating that "I will not publicly or privately indicate a preference for or against the permit, that would is the responsibility of the executive branch". He further stated that "I am not a resident of Newton County so the only possible affect of my taking a position would be to use my office to attempt to influence the decision and that would be wrong".

His Letter to you sounds right, he is not a regulator but a legislator.

Gary, was thaty you writing that last comment? Sure sounded like someone that is good at skirting the issue. Don't worry about us down here in Newton
County. We will survive without you.

Can't you just leave me alone? I'm only trying to make a few quick bucks while keeping out of hot water. Geez, kick a couple of crips and they never forget!
