'Small Town News' featured in MPA magazine

I was surprised to see a mention of my novel, "Small Town News<" in the Missouri Press Association magazine. It is always nice to receive a little free, and unexpected publicity.
The brief article mentioned that I was the former managing editor of The Carthage Press, it summarized the novel's plot and said it could be ordered through the author's website or through Amazon.com
It failed to mention that "Small Town News" makes a great Christmas gift, so I'll remedy that oversight.
Thanks to the staff at MPA for the mention. It is much appreciated.

From what I hear, your book got three or four inches in one narrow column while Neosho writer, Kay Hively's work got an entire full page....hmmmm. Maybe someone who gets the publication can comment.

Yes Kay Hively received a full page, and rightfully so. Hively is an amazing children's serial writer, who along with a local artist, Billie Gofourth-Stewart, create multi-part stories that introduce Missouri history and other subjects through the eyes of a child main character.

Hively's full-page mention was a promotion of for the 2006 Read Across Missouri campaign, (a program of the Missouri Press Foundation) which kicks off in January. This year's story features Mark Twain through the eyes of a young girl.

So, yes, it earned a full page, while Randy's book note was a "blurb" in the Scrapbook section, (a section that highlights Mo Press members' achivements. But size shouldn't be an issue.

We should be glad that there are local authors in southwest Missouri, each with their own specialty. (And notably, both with connections to Liberty Publishing and not the Globe.)
