KSN gets the beat on foster parent story

It appears KSN had the story on Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney Dean Dankelson's decision not to prosecute foster parents Mark and Treva Gordon for the murder of eight-year-old Braxton Wooden.
KSN led its 6 p.m. newscast Friday with the story and has generally been on top of this sad story from the onset.
Somewhat disappointing was the Joplin Globe, which did not have anything on the story until its Sunday edition, a full two days later

I'm confused...is it a play on words..."gets beat" as in they are on the beat or did someone break the story before them?

No, I just left a word out of the headline. I will fix it now.

Actually, KOAM reported months ago that Dankelson had made his decision. It was no surprise when he issued the statement Friday and really not even news.

Yeah KOAM has installed the new 7 strong psychic crystal ball.....it's installed next to their Skywatch 7...it's called the B.S. watch. It makes them predict newsstories before they happen.

So how does one get the prosecutor to answer the right questions?

Braxton's grandma had guardianship which placed the children in her legal custody. The fact that she couldn't handle that responsiblity led her to take the children back to the Gordon's of her own free will. The state was not involved in that decision. Nobody forced her to take the children back to that home. The Gordon boy is serving his sentence. If the grandmother was so concerned why didn't she check the house before she dropped them off for good. Why should other people, essential strangers, be responsible for other peoples children. I know for a fact that what happened was a horrible accident and the subject needs to be dropped. We all need to honor Braxton's memory and stop trying to place the blame on other people. In the best world Braxton's mother would have lived her life on the straight and narrow path and nobody would have had to take care of her children but herself and this would never have happened.
