Legislature tackling hot-button social issues

Today's Kansas City Star features a revealing look at a number of bills being proposed by the Republican majority in the Missouri legislature. Among those are bills that would:
-Change the mission of the Missouri Women's Council to include helping women make the transition from work to home. That one is sponsored by Rep. Marilyn Ruestman, R-Joplin.
-Bills sponsored by Jason Crowell, R-Cape Girardeau, that would allow the teaching of the Bible in schools (which is already legal, by the way) and ban all abortions except to save the life of the mother.
-Provide tax credits for children in failing public schools to attend private schools.
-Allow pharmacists, doctors, and hospitals to deny treatment if the treatment goes against their values.

Good, the public will start to see the Democrats as the party that better represents mainstream America.

I used to be a die hard republican for many years. However, based on our current President, people like Matt Blunt and Gary Nodler, I will be switching to the Democrat in upcoming elections. I am disappointed in my "former" party!
