Globe should publicize reporters' accomplishments

Jeff Lehr won four awards at the annual Missouri Associated Press Managing Editors (APME) awards Friday at Branson. Ryan Malashock and Derek Spellman captured two awards apiece, while Jim Fryar and former Globe reporter Jeff Wells each picked up one.
This is the second time you have read about this in The Turner Report, or in other words, two more times than it has been featured in The Globe itself, as far as I can tell. This is nothing new for the Globe, which has never done much to publicize the accomplishments of its reporters.
With Globe officials' unwillingness to recognize its reporters (or to pay them very well either, for that matter) is it any wonder that so many of the topflight young staff writers the newspaper has had over the past few years are now topflight young staff writers for other publications?
And is it any wonder that open season has been declared on the Globe, with two business publications, the Joplin Daily and, on occasion, this blog, exploiting one weakness after another in the Globe's coverage?
A little publicity (and a healthy bonus) for these reporters would seem to be called for.
