Neosho Daily editor criticizes Hunter

Neosho Daily News Editor Buzz Ball ripped into Rep. Steve Hunter, R-Joplin, today for Hunter's self-serving amendment to remove media offices from the state capital and replace them with a place for legislators to work out.
Hunter suggested that this could be funded through donations from some well-heeled civic-minded companies and individuals. Amazingly, it never occurred to Hunter how bad his amendment sounds. But then again, as Ball pointed out, this is a man who has accepted more gifts from lobbyists than his fellow area legislators, Ed Emery, Ron Richard, Marilyn Ruestman, Bryan Stevenson, and Kevin Wilson combined.
Hunter apparently does not learn from his mistakes since he told Joplin Globe reporter Derek Spellman he plans to give the idea another shot next session.

ASK THE QUESTION

Has anyone bothered to ask Mr. Hunter if he thinks there should be an alternate location for the media offices?

I have never seen that question posed to him: I have only seen the media exhibit an over-reaction and knee-jerk response.

Perhaps some member of the media SHOULD ask him. He very well may have a plan layed out to find an alternate location.

Is the media truly interested in discovering an answer to the question (or even asking it). Or are they simply trying to trash Steve Hunter?

I would include this blog in that trashing.

The media could use a work-out room too.

There shouldn't be an alternate location at all because the proposal of a work out room for legislators shouldn't have been put forth at all. From a public standpoint, they don't need one. We aren't paying their salaries out of our tax dollars so Steve Hunter can look buff for Marilyn Ruestman.
