Forum Newspapers was the winning bidder for two former Knight-Ridder newspapers, the Duluth News Tribune and the Grand Forks Herald that were put up for sale after they were bought by McClatchy Newspapers.
Community Newspaper Holdings, owner of the Joplin Globe, was reportedly among the bidders.
