Post blog ranks Talent seat fourth most likely to change in November

The Fix, Chris Cillizza's blog on The Washington Post website, ranks Missouri's Senate race fourth in the most likely to see a challenger win category.
According to the blog, State Auditor Claire McCaskill has abandoned her philosophy from her losing race against Matt Blunt two years ago and is now working to solidify her presence in rural areas of the state, including the Joplin and Springfield areas.
In 2004, Ms. McCaskill pretty much wrote off southwest Missouri and other rural areas of the state and concentrated on the St. Louis and Kansas City areas. She still almost won the election and probably would have if John Kerry had not written off his presidential chances in Missouri so quickly.
Cillizza writes, "(Jim) Talent has a top-notch campaign team that will ensure he runs a quality race. But this race is going to be extremely close. If ever Democrats can turn the Republican tide in Missouri, this is the year."
