Editorial: Blunt should steer clear of motion picture ratings

An editorial published today in The Kinston N. C. Free Press says Seventh District Congressman Roy Blunt needs to find more weighty issues to deal with than movie ratings.
Recently, our representative became quite irate after "Facing the Giants," a movie with a Christian theme, received a PG rating, purportedly because of its strong religious content, though the Motion Picture Association of America denies that.
The editorial makes the point:

Although revisiting the ratings process might be a good idea from time to time, how is it Congress’ place to do that? Any reworking of the system should come at the urging, and with the help, of the movie-going public, rather than as a result of an edict from Washington. This is a prime example of government getting involved in what is rightly a free market issue.
