Federal government wants proof MAP tests work

Missourinet reports the federal government is asking the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for proof that the MAP (Missouri Assessment Program) tests are a reliable gauge of whether the state is meeting No Child Left Behind requirements.
Federal money will be withheld from the state if the tests are found wanting. The 2005-2006 school year was the first one in which students in each grade from 3-8 were tested in both math and reading.
