Jackson closes the gap in state auditor race

With 24 precincts left to be counted, Col. Jack Jackson has mounted a late rally to pull to within six-tenths of a percent or 1,720 votes of Platte County Auditor Sandra Thomas.
Ms. Thomas has 86,280 votes or 29.1 percent. She had been totaling approximately 32 percent earlier in the evening. She is the anointed candidate of Governor Matt Blunt and Congressman Sam Graves.
Jackson has 84,560 votes or 28.5 percent. Appearing to be out of the running are Sen. John Loudon with 73,546 votes, 24.8 percent, Rep. Mark Wright 38,002 votes, 12.8 percent, and 2002 primary winner Al Hanson with 14,169 votes or 4.8 percent.
