Marble praises Blunt stance against minimum wage increase

Former State Rep. Gary Marble, R-Neosho, who went directly from the state legislature to being head of Associated Industries of Missouri, was pleased by Governor Matt Blunt's statements against the minimum wage proposal that Missourians will vote on in November. The following quote was included in the St. Louis Post Dispatch Political Fix today:

By opposing this measure, Gov. Blunt is taking an important step for Missouri’s working men and women,” said Gary Marble, president of Associated Industries, in a statement. “Raising the minimum wage would force businesses to lay-off thousands of workers and could potentially put this state right back into economic decline.”

The last people that Gary Marble or AIM's bought-and-paid-for representative Steve Hunter, R-Joplin, need to speak for are "Missouri's working men and women."

Almost sounds like a threat from Marble, doesn't it? Wonder how many cost of living raises Marble has been given over the past 9 years?

It is not suprising that they would not want it raised up. Hell they do not have to go out and work the MINIMUN wage jobs and TRY to make a living on it. If the companies are that bad off that they cannot afford to give people pay raises then they are already in trouble. And it most likely means that the big dogs in the companies do NOT want to do anything that may take money out of their pockets. They make all the big bucks and do less of the work. Us workers desreve to have the wage increase. They damn sure are not making sure the prices on EVERYTHING does NOT go up to accomodate our pathetic minimun wage that is out there now. My vote certainly will NOT be for Blunt. he is only for himself and all the bucks he has and wants to keep. And lord knows how many companies he is getting money from to help all the campaings all the time. He would not want to take a chance on loosing some of that now would he? I do not see him offering to help us working people out here try to make a living with the cost of EVERTHING going up. And Marble is no better himself. He does not have to worry about money either. So HELL NO they do not want to make life easier for the common person.
