Star editorial decries governor's playing politics with Gaming Commission appointments

The primary duty of the Missouri Gaming Commission is to keep the criminal element out of Missouri gambling. That is why many of the appointments over its 13-year history have had law enforcement backgrounds, an editorial in today's Kansas City Star notes.
That has changed over the past few months with three appointments made by Governor Matt Blunt. The Turner Report was the first to mention that Noel Shull and Sam Hais have been big contributors to Governor Blunt. Shull's contributions were brought to light in the April 14 Turner Report, while contributions made by Hais, his family, and members of his law firm, were first written about here on June 9.
