Rep. Steve Hunter, R-Joplin, and his wife, Rita Hunter, Jasper County public administrator received more than $200 worth of entertainment, meals, food, and beverage from Sprint lobbyists on July 21, according to documents posted today on the Missouri Ethics Commission website.
Sprint lobbyist Doug Galloway reported spending $34.10 for meals, food, and beverage for Hunter, $8.85 for meals, food, and beverage for Mrs. Hunter, and $59.79 for entertainment for Mrs. Hunter.
Lobbyist Charles Simino, also representing Sprint, reported spending $68.64 for meals, food, and beverage for Mrs. Hunter and $34.10 for meals, food and beverage for Hunter.
In what seems likely is no coincidence, Hunter also received $34.10 in meals, food and beverage from Missouri Automobile Dealers Association lobbyist Phillip Schneiders on the same day, while Mrs. Hunter received $8.85 for meals, food and beverage and $59.79 for entertainment, making for a grand total of $319.02 for the day.
Steve Hunter's total of $108.84 for the month placed him over $3,000 in lobbyists' gifts for 2006.
