Pastor's attorney files motion to dismiss sex charges

Andrew Patrick Wood, attorney for Grandview Valley Baptist Church North pastor George Otis Johnston, filed a motion for dismissal of sex charges against his client Wednesday in Newton County Circuit Court.
Wood's motion asks for either the case to be dismissed or for a bill of particulars, which is a detailed recounting of the charges. According to court records, subpoenas were issued to Newton County deputies Dwayne Allen and Mike Barnett and to the alleged victim.
Johnston is charged with eight felony counts of statutory sodomy. He also faces a s child molestation charge in McDonald County Circuit Court, in connection with ritual sex connected to his church and to the Grand Valley Independent Baptist Church near Washburn. Grand Valley church leaders Rev. Raymond Lambert, his wife, Patty Lambert, and her brothers (and Lambert's stepbrothers) Paul Epling and Tom Epling are facing multiple felony sex counts.
