Reporter keeps newspaper's eye focused on Iraq war

While many local and regional newspapers have relegated the war in Iraq to AP coverage, reporter Michelle Brooks continues to maintain a local emphasis on the war with her finely-crafted features in the Jefferson City News-Tribune.
The former Michelle Dixon got her start in newspaper writing in the early 1990s, working for The Carthage Press while she was attending high school in Lockwood. Her latest feature explores the bond of two wives whose husbands are fighting for their country in Iraq. It's well worth reading.
