Mosbaugh takes blame for Jasper County fiasco

Jasper County Clerk Ron Mosbaugh is owning up to poor planning for today's election which led to a shortage of ballots in several precincts and to a count that is going to last long into the morning.
Mosbaugh told Joplin Daily Editor John Hacker:

"This is on me," Mosbaugh said. "I didn't order enough ballots. In past elections we've thrown ballots away, but this time I've got some mad people out there, and I don't blame them."

If Talent loses by 1,000 votes or less it will be Mosbaugh's fault. I'm sure every dog, cat, felon and skeleton in St. Louis had a ballot available to cast for McCaskill.

Let us explore the issue further. The true blame lies with our lawmakers (Republicans) who mandated a change in Jasper County's voting procedure. The punchcards we used previously are generic, and can be ordered in bulk and used in any election. The new "fill in the arrow" ballots are obviously unique and limited in number.
