Add the Independence School District to those who oppose Governor Matt Blunt's nomination of voucher advocate Donayle Whitmore-Smith to the State Board of Education.
Independence Superintendent Jim Hinson, a Carthage native, and at one time the superintendent at East Newton High School, told the Independence Examiner the board has concerns about Ms. Whitmore-Smith's work with the group School Choice Missouri, which favors vouchers and tuition tax credits.
