Jasper County officials to make effort to try Memorial Middle School shooter as an adult

Jasper County officials will make the attempt to have the 13-year-old who took a gun into Memorial Middle School and shot it Oct. 7 certified as an adult to stand trial, according to an article in today's Joplin Globe.

The assertion is included in the Globe's coverage of the boy's father's guilty plea in federal court to a weapons charge.

The boy's lawyer, Chuck Lonardo told the Globe the prosecutor's move was "unprecedented."
