Goodman explains school starting time bill
Sen Jack Goodman, as noted earlier in The Turner Report, has once again filed his bill which would require Missouri schools to have earlier starting dates. The bill is the subject of an article written by newly-minted metro editor Andy Ostmeyer in today's Joplin Globe. Though Goodman cites studies and mentions numerous reasons why this would be a good bill, it still appears the main reason is because the Branson tourism industry wants it.
Of course, that offers a good reason for Goodman to offer the bill. At least the interests that are wanting this bill are in his district. That same reason would not apply to Sen. Gary Nodler, R-Joplin, who announced support for this bill in the spring, right about the same time, he received thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from Branson tourism interests.
