Thompson Communications, bankers pony up for Champion

Campaign contribution limits have been tossed out in Missouri, and you need look no further than the April disclosure report of Sen. Norma Champion, R-Springfield, to see the proof.
Mrs. Champion received $14,401.21 from Thompson Communications, Springfield, according to her report, which was filed today with the Missouri Ethics Commission.
In addition, the senator picked up $650 contributions from each of six branches of the Missouri Bankers Association, for a total of $3,900. It would appear those contributions came late in 2006, before the $650 contribution limit was eliminated, but it is impossible to tell since Mrs. Champion's disclosure form does not list the dates when any campaign contributions were made.
Her contributions totaled $18,320.17, according to the report. Mrs. Champion has $30,587.45 in her campaign account.

WAit a minute,,,,
Won't Senator Champion be term limited out at the end of this term? She beat Hosmer in '00 for her first term and ran against and beat Harpool in '06 for her second term.
So what will she do with the money she is receiving now? A statewide run? Gee, she has got to be at least in her early 70s.
What are the expectations of the bankers and Thompson for their gifts?

Second thought, BJ Marsh is contemplating running again in spite of the term limit law, Maybe Aunt Norma is planning on the same thing.
