City of Joplin asks for temporary restraining order against Jasper County Emergency Services

Facing a May 14 deadline, the city of Joplin today filed for a temporary restraining order preventing Jasper County Emergency Services from taking over dispatching of 911 calls.
The city is asking for a permanent injunction preventing the changeover from taking place.
The request for the injunction was filed by attorney Karl Blanchard, representing the city, according to Jasper County Circuit Court records.
The city opposes the change, saying it will slow emergency responses to those within the city limits and put Joplin residents at risk.
