The embattled Chicago Sun-Times, the crown jewel of the once powerful Hollinger International chain, is likely up for grabs and likely bidders include GateHouse Media, owner of The Carthage Press and Neosho Daily News, and Community Newspaper Holdings, Inc. (CNHI) the company that owns the Joplin Globe, according to Bloomberg News.
The Sun-Times, Carthage Press, and Neosho Daily News were at one time all included in Hollinger's American Publishing subsidiary.
