11th hearing set for hospital embezzler

Perhaps the 11th time will be the charm for convicted Barton County Memorial Hospital embezzler Kim Schlup. Ms. Schlup's payment hearing rescheduled for a 10th time to July 6, has been rescheduled again for 9 a.m. Aug. 3.
Ms. Schlup, 42, entered an Alford plea, meaning she was not pleading guilty, but conceding that there was enough evidence to convict her if the case went to trial. She was ordered to reimburse the $100,085 she stole from the hospital during her time as finance director of the facility. She served four months shock time in prison, then was released. Court records do not indicate she has paid a cent since she was sentenced on March 27, 2006.
