KZRG coverage shines during ice storm aftermath

As it proved last January during the first of 2007's ice storms, News 1310 KZRG and Zimmer Radio Group are determined to be the one-stop shopping place for information when bad weather strikes this area.

Not only did KZRG's news personnel, including Mark Kinsley, Franzman, Kara Marxer, Thom Hoglen, and anyone else I forgot to name, provide hours of in-depth local
coverage on the AM station, but the information was also transmitted on Zimmer's other stations, including the number one rated station in the Joplin market, KIX 102.5.

The team provided information on cancellations, safety tips, updates on power outages, and offered the opportunity for listeners to call in and add valuable information...all from a darkened studio sinceZimmer was also without power through the early part of the week and was operating with generators.

As one of those who was without power during that time (and who is still without power, but fortunately have family I can stay with for a few days) I appreciated KZRG's above and beyond approach to providing this public service to the community.

The station was nothing but the mouth peice for Empire,Amy Bass from Empire came on the station and was not asked a single question she just was there to give their spill, the station never used the word WHY,why this or why that ,they just let her speak ,they did not take any phone calls, this could have been taped last Jan.,they call thenselves the voice of the four states, however when the fourstates used their voice to comment about the poor or lack of service the station just repeated Empires spill,if I was paying for the adds I would expect Empire to help with the cost because it was all pro-Empire and they could not have written a better pitch.

Things like this can only be expected when you have "journalists" who didn't even graduate college who were fired for doing one sided stories.
