Boston Globe: Iowa proves elections don't need to be bought

The victories of Illinois Sen. Barack Obama and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee in Thursday's Iowa caucuses prove that money does not have to be the biggest factor in politics, according to an editorial in today's Boston Globe:

Maybe the glow won't last; the Iowa caucus rules are byzantine, and beating expectations there is no guarantee of success in later contests. Nevertheless, Thursday was a fine night for Americans who want more from their politics. The Iowa results showed that elections need not be bought; that voters are open-minded; and that throngs of people who had tuned out the political process are itching to take part for the first time.
