Cancer claims KODE/KSNF news director

Larry Young, who has been the news director of KODE and KSNF since 1999, died this morning of cancer. A moving tribute to Young just aired on KODE, and I assume also aired on KSNF.
Mr. Young, 63, had worked at all three local television stations, having come to this area in 1984 to serve as news director at KOAM. He moved to KODE three years later and became news director at KODE and KSNF, when the dual arrangement between the stations began eight years ago.
Mr. Young is survived by a wife and two daughters.

Larry Young was a good man. At one time or another, he served as news director at all three area stations. At KODE, he led the news department (and survived - a feat in and of itself) multiple sales of the station, from Gilmore to Eastern to the current owner. More interesting is the challenge he faced in simultaneously serving as news director of two news departments (KODE and KSN) that used to compete head-on for years. Larry was a devoted father and husband. His fight against cancer was inspiring, as he openly shared his faith and the challenges he faced in the preceding months.
