Health care cuts continue to plague Blunt

The drastic cuts newly-elected Governor Matt Blunt advocated during the first month of his term back in January 2005 continue to haunt him as he prepares to run for reelection.
An Associated Press article published today indicates that a poll taken in November shows 57 percent of Missourians are still troubled by the cuts made by the Republican legislature at the behest of the governor.

Also weighing in, of course, is Attorney General Jay Nixon, Blunt's likely opponent in November:

Nixon claims Blunt has plunged Missouri into a health care crisis.

"This is a guy that when he came in fundamentally asked the wrong question," Nixon asserted. "He said, 'How do you slash health care to balance the budget,' when the question that should have been asked was, 'How do you maximize the health care coverage with the dollars we have available?'

"And that's led to this cavalcade of mistakes and his hardened position."
