Jackson shutters campaign committee

Col. Jack Jackson, touted a couple of months ago as a possible primary opponent for Gov. Matt Blunt, closed his campaign committee Jan. 13, according to documents filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission.
Jackson had $2,050 in his campaign account at the October reporting period, and deposited the final $1,222.98 from his 2006 campaign for state auditor. The former representative spent the entire $3,272.98, refunding contributions and paying $575.23 to Survey St. Louis, which polled Missourians to gauge interest in a possible gubernatorial race. He had already paid $1,000 to Survey St. Louis during the last quarter.
Of course, Jackson who said he was pleased by those survey results, could always restart his committee and announce his candidacy now that Blunt is no longer a factor i the 2008 race.
