Asia'h Epperson leads off tonight

The cutdown to six female American Idol contestants is beginning and the first one to perform tonight is Joplin's Asia'h Epperson, who is doing Whitney Houston's "I Want to Dance With Somebody."

Similar to last week's "All By Myself," she is starting slowly vocally, but her stage presence is great and she is clearly enjoying myself.

And again, just like week, Asiah's performance is picking up as the song continues. This is the right song for our South Middle School alum.

Now for the judges:

Randy Jackson said, "IT was a tall order for you to take on but you showed and proved you belong here. That was hot!."

Paula Abdul, "She picking songs, I wondered can she pull it off? You nailed it. You really nailed it."

Simon Cowell said he was not quite so enthusiastic. "At best, it was second rate Whitney Houston.

Asiah responded, "I am not Whitney. I will accept being second rate Whitney Houston she said.

Simon added, "That is good enough for the top 12."

Of course, it remains for the viewing audience to determine that, but things are looking good for Asia'h Epperson.
