Clinton delivers stem-winder following primary victories

Hillary Clinton's speeches do not possess the poetic lilt of Barack Obama's, but she does know how to hammer home a point. Her point at the moment, it's not speeches that the country needs, but someone who is ready to lead from day one.

That message has not been getting across recently, but after today it looks as though Mrs. Clinton's campaign, written off by those same pundits who have made mistake after mistake during this election season, is far from over.

The country, Mrs. Clinton said, cannot afford to elect a president who needs on-the-job training, based on speeches. Mrs. Clinton has been on a roll tonight, capturing the Ohio and Vermont primaries and leading by a thread in Texas. The only state Barack Obama has won thus far has been Vermont.

"We will turn promises into actions, words into solutions, and hope into reality," Mrs. Clinton said. "It will take leadership and hard work but we have never been short on either.

We will seize this moment, lift this nation and heal this world," Mrs. Clinton said, concluding the speech.
