Hulshof: License fee offices should be awarded through competitive bids

Rep. Kenny Hulshof said he will eliminate the type of patronage that led to abuses of license fee offices during Gov. Matt Blunt's administration.
Though Hulshof did not mention Blunt or any particular abuse, he made it clear he wanted to change the way things have been done in the past if he is elected governor:

"If elected governor, I'm going to end the political patronage system," Hulshof said in an interview with The Associated Press. "I think the patronage system is a relic of an age gone by and should give way to a new competitive and, candidly, a transparent plan for license offices."
