Joplin fire chief still in running for Minnesota job

Joplin Fire Chief Gary Trulson remains in the running for the fire chief job in Rochester, Minn.
Trulson and the other two finalists went through second-round interviews Friday, according to an article in the Rochester Post-Bulletin:

The committee assessing the candidates will meet within the next week or two to compare notes and describe a process and timetable to extend an offer, said Linda Hillenbrand, the city's human resources director.

The finalists are Dave W. Hanneman, a deputy fire chief in Boise, Idaho; Greg Martin, fire chief in Sioux City, Iowa; and Gary Trulson, fire chief in Joplin, Mo.

Each of them, while they were here, also completed a programmed assessment of their management styles and abilities. The assessments will be evaluated by an outside firm, Personnel Decisions International, which will report to the city within at least a week, according to Hillenbrand.

The finalists are vying to replace former chief David Kapler, who retired Sept. 30, then took a job as fire chief in Alameda, Calif.
