Lockwood native Shorter to coach Webb City girls

Tonight's KSNF and KODE newscasts noted that Carl Junction has fired its boys basketball and wrestling coaches.
It was also noted that Lockwood alumnus Brad Shorter, who has been coaching the girls basketball team, has left on his own to coach the Webb City girls basketball team.
Shorter will replace Walter Resa, who is stepping down after a successful decade-long run, including three district championships. Resa will serve as the assistant coach, replacing Elaine Shewmake, who retired.

I simply can't believe that CJ fired the boys basketball coach. Coach Robbins has taken the team far, winning the conference this year etc. It would seem that the issue is the loss of the games against Webb City. I think CJ should pay less attention to the winning of games against Webb City and more attention to the overall spirit and determination that men like Coach Robbins produce. Not to mention that if he moves, we will lose the greatest A+ staff person we have ever had - that would be his wife, Amanda.

Events like this one and the firing of the Nixa basketball coach really highlight the business that is going on at entities whose main focus is education, not business.
