News-Leader posts job openings

The Springfield News-Leader has posted three job openings on JournalismJobs.com, and there is not a single shopping reporter among them.

Instead of a reporter, the News-Leader is advertising for a "storyteller:"

The News-Leader Media Group in Springfield, Mo., is looking for an experienced reporter who can create engaging and enriching stories and multimedia content for our specialty print and Web publications.

We are a community-focused media company creating deep local content for a daily and Sunday newspaper, weekly newspapers, glossy magazines, several Web sites and a mobile site. Our custom content team focuses on the daily and Sunday newspaper, magazines and Web sites.

The ideal candidate is a master storyteller who can identify the right tone and writing style for each assignment and publication, is as comfortable with the rich and powerful as the homeless and poor and can treat both with respect, excels at juggling multiple projects and deadlines, can quickly develop deep community knowledge and has a great attitude about working with a team to collaborate and create the best publications in southwest Missouri.

The News-Leader is also looking for a "higher education reporter," and an "online entertainment producer."
