State to seek death penalty for accused Rowan Ford killers

According to documents filed today in Barry County Circuit Court, the state will seek the death penalty for the accused killers of nine-year-old Rowan Ford of Stella.

Case.net indicates Barry County Prosecutor Johnnie Cox cited "aggravating circumstances" in seeking the death penalty for Rowan Ford's stepfather, David Wesley Spears, 25, Stella, and his friend, Chris Collings, 32, Wheaton.

The two are charged with first degree murder, forcible rape, and statutory rape.

The next hearing for Collings and Spears is scheduled for 1 p.m. May 20.
