Top defense attorney Wampler to represent former Collins mayor in sex case

The most prominent criminal defense attorney in southwest Missouri, Dee Wampler, will represent former Collins Mayor Allen Kauffman who faces three counts of enticement of a a child in connection with one of Diamond Police Officer Jim Murray's internet sex stings.
According to Newton County Circuit Court records, Wampler signed on to Kauffman's defense team on April 21 and has already filed numerous motions, including a request for a change of venue.
Kauffman's next court hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 12.

Kauffman, 62, who is also a minister, resigned as mayor shortly after his arrest in January.
