Trial delayed for accused Micronesian church killer

The trial of Eiken Elam Saimon, the man accused of committing the fatal Aug. 12 shooting spree at the First Congregational Church in Neosho, has been pushed back to Oct. 29, according to Newton County Circuit Court records.
The change was made following the entrance of two top notch specialists in capital crimes from the state public defender's office in St. Louis. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. June 2.

Saimon is charged with three counts of first degree murder, five counts of assault, and one count of felonious restraint in connection with the shootings during a Sunday afternoon Micronesian church service. The murder victims were Pastor Kernal Rehobson and other church deacons.
