A July 11 date has been set in Cole County Circuit Court for former Collins Mayor Allen Kauffman, who is charged with sexual misconduct involving a child less than 14 years old. Collins waived his arraignment Friday.
Kauffman, who is a preacher, has an Aug. 8 motions hearing in Newton County Circuit Court on three counts of enticement of a child, as a result of one of Diamond Police Officer Jim Murray's internet sex stings. Kauffman resigned as Collins mayor shortly after his Newton County arrest.
