$211,445 spent on attorney general candidates in last eight days

Though the lion's share of the attention in Missouri politics has been given to the race for governor between Kenny Hulshof and Sarah Steelman, big money has also been poured into the race for attorney general.

An examination of Missouri Ethics Commission 24-hour notices shows $211,445 has been contributed to the race for the attorney general's office during the last eight days.

Monday's 24-hour notices came from three candidates, Democrats Margaret Donnelly and Jeff Harris and Republican Michael Gibbons with Gibbons noting a $1,350 contribution, Harris $3,750 total and Mrs. Donnelly $1,000.

In the last eight days, Mrs. Donnelly has received the most money, $118,850...but $100,000 came from her own checkbook.

Koster, using his campaign committee system, raised $61,050, Harris $18,350, and Gibbons $13,545.

Gibbons has no opposition in the primary, and according to his eight-day report, has more than $341,000 in the bank. Among his contributions this week have been maximum $1,350 contributions from August A. Busch III and Dorothy Farber of Neosho.
