Dee Wampler to represent former East Newton coach on rape charge

Southwest Missouri's most prominent criminal attorney, Dee Wampler, signed on as former East Newton girls basketball coach Joshua Long's attorney today, and immediately filed a motion to dismiss the felony statutory rape case, according to Jasper County Circuit Court records.
Wampler also filed two other motions, the records indicate.
A Sept. 3 arraignment is scheduled before Judge RIchard Copeland, for Long, 30, who resigned his coaching position Aug. 2.
