Former KOAM reporter Williams leading NBC Olympic coverage

NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams, whose television journalism career began with an unmemorable stint at KOAM is leading NBC's Olympics coverage.

In his blog The Daily Nightly today, Williams reflects on watching with two presidents, Bush 41 and Bush 43, as American swimmer Michael Phelps captured a gold medal and set a world record:

It was an absolute treat, and I felt so fortunate to be there. We sat with some wonderful folks in the stands -- and had the pleasure of sitting two rows behind former Austrailian Prime Minister John Howard and his family -- who were joined by a rabid Austrailian cheering section. Its axiomatic at Olympic games: everyone loves the Australians...they are so much fun, so full of life, such great boosters for their team -- and they sing their anthem louder than those from any other nation.
