Mike Langland has a 10-vote lead, 739 to 729, over incumbent Ken Copeland for Newton County sheriff, with a lot of votes remaining to be counted.
So far, Newton County voters have opted for Kenny Hulshof in the GOP race for governor, with 808 votes for Hulshof and 519 for Mrs. Steelman.
