Many of those who attended the Marian Days observance in Carthage stopped by the site of a Friday bus crash that killed 17 who were headed for the event, according to an article posted today on the Fort Worth Star-Telegram website:
Many of the people who stopped at the site Sunday began their journey on another bus operated by the transportation company now under investigation.
Peter Doan, one of the few teenagers gathered at the memorial, said the crash changed the tone of the annual Marian Days festival, the Roman Catholic group’s destination, which honors the Virgin Mary. He said many attendees were kept abreast of the latest developments by news reports throughout the weekend.
Doan said nearly all the people gathered at the site had a connection to someone killed or injured on the bus. He said he was praying for a friend’s father, 44-year-old Phuong Vong, who is hospitalized at Methodist Medical Center in Dallas.
Jose Hidalgo of San Antonio-based Liberty Charters was driving a bus of festival-goers back to Houston.
"It’s hard," he said. "We’re just lucky we didn’t have too many more losses."

Such a tragedy, this happened in my town. Whenever such a close-knit group experiences this type of tragedy it impacts everyone. My prayers with all of the families and friends.
